ABELS Academy has been approved by the Florida Department of Education to accept McKay Scholarships.
If you are currently enrolled in the McKay scholarship program (meaning you used it for the 2018-2019 school year), you may transfer to ABELS Academy on the McKay website.
If you are not currently using McKay, you can designate ABELS Academy as your school choice in May 2020.
The above information is separate from filing your letter of intent to use McKay.
ABELS Academy was created because the clinicians at Southlake Autism were compelled to do something for children not making progress in their current school placement. Although Southlake Autism specializes in helping children with autism and other developmental disorders, ABELS Academy will serve all types of students.
The idea that clinicians and teacher could work closely together sharing their respective areas of expertise to create a learning environment that focused solely on student success was the goal.
The mission of ABELS (Applied Behavior Education & Life Skills) Academy is to provide an educational environment that promotes a child centered approach to learning, the development of functional life skills, and the advancement of family and community values to extend beyond the walls of our school.
