My name is Aspacia Lindstrom and I am so excited to be a new teacher for ABELS Academy! I am the mommy of two sweet girls Miccah (11 ½) and Rylee (10), and wife of my wonderful husband, Erik. Being that my mother was an educator of special needs children, I would often visit her classroom. I enjoyed it so much that I became a teacher’s assistant at 17. This passion to work with children paved the way for me to become a special needs teacher in Polk and Lake County. My most recent experience was working at Astatula Elementary where my classroom consisted of children ranging from kindergarten to 5th grade. While at Astatula, I was also the director of our theater program and recently started my own theater company where we just finished two MTI Broadway Jr. Productions, Little Mermaid and Willy Wonka. I am looking forward to incorporating theater at ABELS Academy and a successful school year.Type your paragraph here.
My name is Jennifer Dugan and I am thrilled to be working with your child in the classroom. This school year begins my 20th year as an educator. I attended The University of South Carolina, studying Early Childhood Education. Over the years, I have taken many hours of professional development and continuing education in order to be prepared to meet each child’s needs. In addition I recently obtained my Registered Behavior Technician certification.
I love teaching! My mission as a teacher is to encourage each child to discover the joy of learning, and to help each child develop a strong belief in his or her own ability. I want them to do their best and to have a sense of pride in accomplishing their personal goals.
My name is Heidi Brewton. I joined the ABELS team for the 2017-2018 school year after working for Lake County Schools as an educator in an autism classroom.
I hold a BA in psychology and an ESE Florida Teaching Certification. As the Enrichment teacher for ABELS, my primary subject matter will be art, music, social studies and handwriting.
I am the mother of three boys, the youngest of whom has autism. In addition to my education and training, I feel I bring a unique skill set to ABLES as an autism mom. I am a passionate believer that If it takes a village to raise a child, it takes an army to raise a child with special needs. It takes an army of determined and compassionate people who will not give up, and who see the ability in those with a disability. I am proud to be a member of the ABELS team, and excited to help students not just reach their potential, but exceed it. Type your paragraph here.
